The COMPA Awards Committee accepts nominations each year for three (3) award categories. Recipients are then announced at COMPA's Awards Ceremony during the conference. We seek your participation in this process by submitting your nomination of deserving individuals. Each nomination should include a brief bio of the nominee and submitted online by Sunday, January 15, 2023.
Public Service Award in Honor of Dr. Gwendolyn Bullock-Smith
The Gwendolyn Bullock-Smith Public Service Award is COMPA’s highest award and is usually given to an academic or a practitioner in recognition of an exemplary public service career.
Mentorship Award in Honor of Prof. Sylvester Murray
The Sylvester Murray Mentoring Award is usually awarded to an academic or a practitioner with a track record of mentoring and supporting students/young professionals. The award was created in recognition of Sy's history of supporting and mentoring young professionals in the field.
Trailblazer Award in Honor of Dr. Jewel Prestage
The Jewel Prestage Trailblazer Award is usually awarded to an academic or a practitioner for their pacesetter role in public service, for example, by leading the way and/or opening the door for others in academia/public service in general. The award was created in honor of Dr. Jewel Prestage for her pioneering public service professional life and support for COMPA.

Conference participants are encouraged to submit their completed conference papers online by Sunday, January 15, 2023 to be considered for COMPA's Annual Best Paper Award. The lengths of papers should be between 7,000 and 10,000 words, including references and endnotes. Authors should use the most recent edition of the American Psychological Association style guidelines (http://www.apastyle.org/) when they format their papers. Papers should be submitted as a PDF or Word document. The conference planning committee will evaluate full paper submissions and make the necessary determination. All papers will be judged on clarity, coherence, organization, and relevance to the conference theme.
